i've been looking at the id3v2 specification that is used to add meta-data to mp3 files. here it specifies that you can include any other file to the mp3 file. i have seen that itunes already uses the attached picture id3 tag to show cover art but i haven't seen any program that uses [...]

when adam was talking (in one of his daily source codes ) about adding meta data to (mp3) sound files he was thinking about the mp3 id-tags but the following idea came to my mind:

in-band signaling

you could send some tones that represent data in the audio itself.
